Musikfestival „Woodstock der Blasmusik“ setzt auf EMEREC

Four days, five stages, over 100 different music groups and more than 50,000 visitors: The "Woodstock der Blasmusik" (Woodstock of brass instruments) music festival, in Ort im Innkreis (Upper Austria), has become a fixture in the Austrian festival calendar in recent years. But the size of the event also presents significant challenges for the fire department. To deal with these, they rely on the EMEREC operational management system from Rosenbauer.

 

The "Woodstock der Blasmusik" started in 2011, and visitor numbers have increased every year since. Along with the guests, the safety requirements on the festival grounds also increased. And this is where the competence and technology of Rosenbauer comes into play. Because the fire department in operation - and the Ort im Innkreis fire department in particular - will be supported this year by state-of-the-art operations management system technology, and also by a special firefighting vehicle.

Preparation, coordination, and handling

To tackle the various tasks in the run-up to, during, and after the event, they will rely entirely on EMEREC from Rosenbauer. The operations management system can show its strengths in many areas. Thus, the various units and departments can be scheduled and coordinated throughout the event via EMEREC. EMEREC provides a tremendous amount of support for the operational leadership, allowing them to always have up-to-date information at their disposal in order to be able to communicate with all units in a straightforward manner, for coordinating matters and, of course, for the documentation of operations. The operational leader receives a complete situational overview in real time. Information from the operational preparation - i.e., the safety concept, various checklists and plans - is of course also readily available.

Mission orders via EMEREC Dispatcher

Especially practical is the new deployment software, EMEREC Dispatcher. On site, a local command center is available to coordinate the forces - whether stationary or mobile in the command vehicle. "With this software module, all firefighters can be coordinated directly via mission orders given through the EMEREC Mobile App," says Commander Bernhard Ranseder of the Ort im Innkreis fire department enthusiastically.

 

At an event of this magnitude - up to 60,000 visitors are expected - EMEREC is not only a great support in case of an incident, but also in the regular running of the festival. "The information from the everyday coordination discussions between the various emergency response organizations and the organizer can be quickly and easily presented, exchanged, and updated on an electronic basis," Bernhard Ranseder says, addressing the many benefits of the modern deployment management system. Smaller events such as dumpster fires can be processed on a small scale, without losing track of the overall situation, the commander said, giving a specific scenario.

Organizer Simon Ertl is naturally pleased with the great success and steady growth of "Woodstock der Blasmusik." Of course, he is also aware of the increasing number of challenges, above all in terms of safety: "Cooperation with authorities and emergency organizations is crucial for the smooth running of the festival.
