With ongoing developments, the automotive industry is setting new standards in terms of vehicle safety. Ultra high-strength steel, pipe reinforcements and restraint systems offer excellent protection for the occupants of modern vehicles. Vehicle concepts with alternative drive systems are also ubiquitous in road traffic. These developments pose new challenges for rescue workers after an accident when it comes to releasing trapped vehicle occupants.
The Crash Recovery System® for fire departments is a vehicle information system that was developed for use directly at the scene of the accident. All vehicle data is stored locally via EMEREC and is available at any time without an Internet connection.
The cooperation between Rosenbauer and Moditech has existed since the beginning of EMEREC development. An important factor of the collaboration is the complete integration of the Moditech solution in the EMEREC operational management system. This gives emergency services a complete software solution.
Technological development in the automotive industry is progressing rapidly. Technical assistance - including traffic accidents - is most common in fire department statistics. Airbags and restraint systems at critical points in a vehicle have long been standard equipment. These protect vehicle occupants in the event of accidents, but pose new challenges for emergency response organizations. In addition, the "new mobility", especially alternative drive concepts, contributes to a changed danger situation at the place of use.
Accordingly, rescue workers are confronted with vehicle components that represent an active hazard in action. In the case of electric vehicles, the on-board electrical system can cause an electric shock if the rescue equipment is handled incorrectly. The corresponding detailed knowledge of the installation position of a high-voltage battery or the high-voltage disconnector is also important for safe and targeted rescue.
Presentation of hazard potential
Furthermore, the risk potential of so-called ultracapacitors, which include for start and stop systems in vehicles, be correctly displayed and assessable. These components can outgas in the event of an accident, i.e. liquid in the form of mist emerges from the condenser. This can be inhaled by the victim but also by the rescue workers and then leads to irritation of the respiratory tract, skin or eyes. In any case, this must be prevented.
The Moditech Crash Recovery System (CRS) has an extensive and detailed vehicle database. It includes a total of more than 4,000 vehicle models with over 30,000 model variants and is the most extensive solution for rescue organizations on the market. This forms the basis for the efficient and safe rescue of people from accident vehicles.
The Moditech Crash Recovery Database offers this rescue information in a simple and usable form on mobile devices. The respective vehicle variants can be identified via a manual selection, but also via a license plate query. A new, automatic license plate recognition via OCR (optical character recognition) is integrated in the new system version. By simply "photographing" the license plate, the vehicle type can be determined quickly and effectively.
Consistent technical information about all rescue relevant vehicle components are shown on the screen.
The vehicles can be selected by make, model, engine type, body and model year. After selection of the make, type, or model, CRS shows a graphical representation of the vehicle as top and side view. The installation locations of rescue-relevant components are illustrated through standardized colors and symbols. By selecting the components, additional safety and disabling instructions as well as photos can be called up. So rescue-relevant information on restraint systems, vehicle body reinforcements, alternative drives, etc. is available to emergency crews at the press of a button.
In the RDW Edition, Moditech Crash Recovery System® enables the selection of a vehicle model by entering the vehicle registration number. The data transmission is based on a secure internet connection (GPRS / UMTS). The data query of the connected national license plate databases takes place via a direct interface of Moditech Rescue Solutions BV. This ensures that the license plate data is always up to date.
The following countries currently support the query of vehicle registration numbers:
Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Denmark, USA
The Moditech Crash Recovery System® offers the right solution for your emergency response organization in the form of two tiered editions. Both variants offer a complete digital collection of all rescue data sheets.
