The global technology group, Samsung, has been a delighted Rosenbauer customer for years. At its headquarters in Suwon “Samsung Digital City”, south of Seoul (South Korea), which is home to the group’s innovative center, a CBS (TLF 9000/600/400 CAFS) with outstanding firefighting systems from Rosenbauer is in use alongside a very well-equipped AT (TLF 3000/400/200 CAFS). The customer had already been our guest in Leonding during the technical acceptance of the above-mentioned vehicles, where we were able to really impress them with a product demonstration of our HRET solution for industrial firefighting. Knowing the local conditions in Samsung’s research and production facilities, our sales team, together with the customer, developed a vehicle concept with HRET, which was tailor-made for their needs.

Apart from the main task of implementing a water delivery point (RM65C) at a height of 20 m (HRET 66 ft) with an vast throw range, it was also part of the conceptual considerations to transport as large a supply of water as possible (11,500 l) for the first attack with the vehicle. The powerful N65 normal pressure pump, precisely matched to the turret performance (RM65C), rounds off the firefighting equipment concept.

Foam proportioning was deliberately omitted, as the vehicle’s foam proportioning is always supplied by a fire truck during continuous operation.

Samsung relies on the Volvo chassis because of its good local service. Therefore, the decision was made in favor of an FMX 540 / 8×4 in tridem design with steered rear axle, in order to remain maneuverable even in the sometimes narrow alleys of the industrial plants.

Another important decision criterion was the vehicle height and the narrow jacking width. Passage under countless existing pipe bridges, as well as operation in tight spots, must be possible for the customer without any problems.

Concentrated extinguishing power combined with reasonable vehicle dimensions were the main criteria for our customer. In addition to an attractive design, the vehicle concept is complemented by large equipment compartments that provide enough space for the technical equipment.

In addition to vehicle technology, Samsung also swears by Rosenbauer’s protective equipment. Each new firefighter is equipped with the complete package of personal protective equipment, from boots to a FIRE FLEX protective suit right through to a HEROS Titan helmet.

This vehicle was built using the CBS (Customized Body System) design. The successor series MT (Modular Technology) was presented in October 2020, which enables individualized vehicle solutions for both industrial and municipal areas of application through the modular assembly of various components.
