Ever since humans started fighting the destructive force of fire, they have been faced with a problem: how to transport water for firefighting to the burning object in a simple, and effective and quick way?
In 1923, ROSENBAUER started building portable pumps that give firefighters the ability to provide a water supply without huge manpower requirements. To be able to transport water for firefighting over longer distances, multiple portable pumps are linked in series to provide a relay operation for water delivery.

The distance between the individual pumps is determined by the following factors:
- the distance to be covered,
- the required pump pressure and
- the hoses you deploy (as every hose also causes pressure loss).
The perfect position for the next pump in a relay water supply is calculated on the basis of these three parameters and on the requirement that each pump needs a minimum residual pressure on its inlet side. |
