| Contamination |
= |
is the exposure of persons, objects, rooms or the environment to nuclear (N) and/or biologic (B) and/or chemical materials (C). |
| Decontamination |
= |
is the reduction/removal of a hazardous material from a surface (mainly from protective clothing and equipment). |
Decontamination is part of the Rosenbauer HAZMAT- and Decon Concept:
- Hygiene Set: smallest set (for every fire brigade)
- Dry Decon Set: for substances which should NOT get in contact with water
- Emergency Decon Set: for efficient help in emergencies the local fire brigade has to save people in accidents with dangerous goods before the HAZMAT respondents arrive
- Decon stage 1 (Base Decon Set): for small-scale deployments
- Decon stage 2 (Standard Decon Set): with about 6 persons or more, i.e. for medium- or large-scale deployments
- Decon stage 3 (Mass Decon Set): Decon stage 3 requires an extensive cleansing technique that is preinstalled in a vehicle together with electric power supply. Alternatively, a Mass Decon Set is also available as Decon stage 3 for the decontamination of a large number of civilians at large-scale events.
