A water/foam compound mix is required to work with FLASH CAFS. The FLASH CAFS central unit is fitted to the pipe system downstream of a suitable foam proportioning system (based on a controlled around-the-pump foam proportioner, direct-injection foam proportioning system, etc.).

FLASH CAFS' special and unique design gives firefighters the ability to expand the water foam mix mechanically with air from compressed air cylinders, removing the need for electronic controls.

When the air/water/foam mix exits the nozzle, the extremely high exit speed injects ambient air into the compact foam, further increasing the expansion rate.
